Ellipse emits short, safe flashes of light to remove unwanted hair from any area of the body in just a few minutes.
The Ellipse system is the only system that carefully emits double filtered light to ensure that only safe light is absorbed by the hair.
How the Ellipse treatment works
Hair contains a pigment (melanin) that absorbs light and converts it into heat. The hair transmits this heat to the hair follicle, which is destroyed, rendering it incapable of producing new hair.
Treatments are most effective on clients with fair skin and dark hair. However, Ellipse is programmed to treat different skin types as well as hair colour and thickness.
Precautions for laser hair removal
It is essential to have hair to be able to do the treatment, so do not pluck hair by using tweezers, wax or depilatory creams during the 4 weeks prior to the treatment. This ensures that the maximum number of follicles contain hair within them and will therefore be treated and removed.
Because tanning is a build-up of pigment (melanin) in the skin it is important to avoid tanning, solarium or tanning creams before and during treatment. If your skin is tanned it will absorb more light, which will make the treatment less effective.
Necessary treatments
Hair growth is cyclical. Only follicles in the growth phase contain hair within them and can be removed by Ellipse.
Resting hair follicles need to enter the growth phase before they can be effectively removed with the Ellipse treatment. For this reason it is necessary to repeat the treatment until all hair follicles have passed through the growth phase.
Clinical studies confirm that 3 to 6 treatments are necessary and that the intervals between treatment sessions range from 1 to 3 months.
Follicles are influenced by factors such as: race, hormonal status, intake of certain medications and age, so many factors influence the outcome and number of sessions.
Duration of Ellipse laser hair removal treatment
A large area can be treated with a single flash of light. A treatment of the upper lip takes 5 minutes, while a treatment of the back or entire legs takes one to two hours.
The treatment is not painful. Most clients describe it as the impact of a rubber band on the skin.
